JV Win

The JV Purple softball team took to the diamond Tuesday evening to battle conference rival Westfield. They came out victorious with a 10-2 win to stay unbeaten on the year.

Freshman Maddy Edwards pitched six innings for the win. She scattered five hits for the evening and gave up three base on balls with seven strikeouts. She had only one earned run in gaining her first win of the year. Freshman Natalie Metzger pitched one inning in relief allowing no runs, one hit and one base on balls with two strikeouts.

The defense was efficient with Sophomore Mallerie Gordon making some great plays at third while Freshman Vivianne Harris was solid behind the plate and throwing out a speedy would be base stealer at a crucial time in the game.

Offensively Sophomore Mallerie Gordon was 3 for 3 with a double, scored three runs and knocked in two RBI. Also contributing were Freshman Kiersten Huff 2 for 4 scoring two runs, Junior Rachel Young was 2 for 4, Sophomore Raegen Bucksot and Freshman Maddy Edwards were 2-3 each, and Sophomore Ciara Casteel and Freshman Vivianne Harris each had a hit.

The JV Purple ladies play their second of four games this week tomorrow at home with a makeup date against Mooresville at 5:30 pm.
