JV Win

Thursday evening the JV Purple softball team went to battle at home with a fantastic Center Grove team that was one of only two teams to beat them last year. "Wow" is the only word that comes close to describing this extra inning comeback victory to avenge last years loss.

Sophomore Mallerie Gordon started the game and pitched five strong innings giving up 7 hits, 2 base on balls and 4 runs. Her defense supported her the whole way with no errors and stellar fielding.

Sophomore Lydia Twomey came in in relief to get the win, however; throwing three innings of 2 hit ball with 4 strike outs and giving up 2 hits.

After trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the 7th, the lady Bulldogs scored two runs to tie and send the game to extra innings. Center Grove took a 6-4 lead in the 8th after two home runs, but the Bulldogs focused and scored three in the bottom of the 8th for the win.

For the game, Junior Ciara Casteel was 5 for 5, scoring 3 runs with two stolen bases and two RBI. Tori Breckler was the hero of the game though going 4 for 5 with three doubles and three RBI including the game winning hit.

The JV Purple team next plays at the Terre Haute South JV Bash on Saturday where they take on a team from Robinson, Illinois at 9:00 am.
