JV Win

On Tuesday evening the girls JV Purple softball traveled to Lafayette Harrison for their opening game of the year. The conditions were less than desirable with a game time temperature of 41. It was cloudy and gusty with winds of 15 mph with gusts that were much higher. They are #bulldogtough however and came home with an 18-6 victory in 6 innings.

Offensively sophomore Tori Breckler, junior Ciara Casteel, freshman Kierstin Huff and junior Rachel Young led the way. Breckler went 3 for 4 with a single, double and triple, scored two runs and drove in 5 RBI, Casteel was 3 for 5 with a triple, stole 2 bases, scored three runs and drove in 4 RBI, Young was two for four, stole three bases, scored one run and had one RBI, Huff, the lefty slapper, in her first high school action went three for four, scored four runs, had two steals and 2 RBI. The entire team contributed and they looked in mid season form.

Defensively sophomore Lydia Twomey got the start in the circle and threw three strong innings. She faced 14 batters, had two strike outs and only issued one base on balls. She had a solid defense behind her and got the win to start off the season.

Sophomore Mallerie Gordon came in for relief and threw three innings giving up four hits and getting five strike outs.

The next game for JV is on Thursday for the home opener against Western Boone where the JV white will take the field for the first time.
