JV Win
On a chilly, breezy evening more reminiscent of late November than Spring break time, the Brownsburg Junior Varsity White team debuted at home with a 23-1, 5-inning victory over Western Boone.
Offensively, the Dogs started off their half of the first a little sluggish, yet managed to jump in front with a single run. After surrendering a single Western Boone run in the top of the 2nd, Brownsburg stretched their lead to 5-1 in the bottom half. The Dogs then broke the game wide open with a 15-run 3rd inning.
Although the hits were abundant on this night, the Dogs were led by the 4 hits of starting pitcher Natalie Metzker, as well as 3 hits apiece from Bri Howard and Kiersten Huff. Huff's hits included 2 bunt singles and were accompanied by 3 RBIs. Howard and Meztger each had 2 RBIs, with Howard also swiping 2 bases and scoring 5 runs. The Dogs' offense was productive from top to bottom of the order, with the 8 and 9 hitters, Emily Deitche and Macee Gipson, combining for 4 hits and 7 runs.
Metzker went the first 3 innings, giving up just 1 hit while striking out 5. Deitche closed things out, going the final 2 innings, surrendering only 1 hit and striking out 3.
The JV White team's next game is April 3rd, at home against Whiteland.
