Brownsburg Cross Country set for Regional weekend at Ben Davis

Brownsburg Boys' and Girls' cross country will compete at the 2019 IHSAA Ben Davis Cross Country Regional this Saturday, Oct. 19.

Action is set to kick off at 10:30 a.m. from the Ben Davis Cross Country Course.

The Field

The top-five finishing teams from the Brownsburg and Ben Davis sectionals advanced to run at Ben Davis this weekend.

They are Avon, No. 6 Brownsburg, Ben Davis, Cardinal Ritter, Crawfordsville, Danville, Perry Meridian, Plainfield, Southport and No. 10 Zionsville on the boys' side.

For the girls, Avon, No. 20 Brownsburg, Ben Davis, Cardinal Ritter, Cloverdale, Crawfordsville, Perry Meridian, Plainfield and No. 2 Zionsville will all compete.

Two Top Teams

On paper, Zionsville and Brownsburg are the top two teams heading into the Ben Davis Regional.

The two HCC members are the lone schools competing at the meet to have both of their teams ranked in the IATCCC poll. All four teams have had strong seasons leading up to the regional.

Brownsburg is ranked 6th in boys and 20th in girls. Zionsville is ranked 10th in boys and 2nd in girls.

The Boys' and Girls' teams from Brownsburg and Zionsville come into the meet off sectional championships last weekend.

Last time out

Running at their home course, Brownsburg claimed the IHSAA Sectional 17 Championship on both the Boys' and Girls' side in what was a dominant weekend for the Bulldogs.

Brownsburg took five of the top ten spots in both races as the Bulldogs swept the top positions.

The Girls claimed their fourth consecutive sectional championship while the boys won their second sectional title in as many years.

Brooke Dixon and Alex Freeman were both individual champions for Brownsburg at Sectional 17.

Back at Ben Davis

Earlier this season, the Brownsburg girls competed at the Ben Davis Cross Country Course in the 2019 Ben Davis Invitational.

Brownsburg finished fourth out of the 21 teams at the meet. Emma Cougill had the top individual time for the Bulldogs that day.

The Lineup

The Brownsburg boys will feature the same lineup as they did in last weekend. Freeman, Trevor NolanJacob KodrickPanin SkilesKole KelleyBrett Heckman and Adin Rademacher will compete for the Bulldogs. 

On the girls side, Dixon, Cougill, Kiley VanNessAlivia GistrowskyIsabella Maihofer, Olivia Limbil and Eva Altschul will run for the Bulldogs. 

The History

Brownsburg High School has won a three combined IHSAA Cross Country Regional championships in boys' and girls' cross country.

The Brownsburg boys won back-to-back regional championships in 2011 and 2012, while the girls won their lone regional championship back in 2008.

A Look Ahead

The top-ten individual times along with the top-five team finishers will all advance to the IHSAA Cross Country Semi-State hosted by Shelbyville.

The 2019 IHSAA Cross Country State Finals will be run at Lavern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute Indiana following the Semi-State next weekend.
