Boys Track & Field Wins Joe Schott Twilight

The Bulldogs traveled to Decatur Central Friday night to compete in the Joe Schott Twilight Invitational. The boys won the track meet, edging out a very talented Warren Central team 187 to 174. In the field events, the highlight of the night happened in the discus ring. With strong winds, Dane Middlebrook and Reis Thomas were able to take advantage. Dane won the event tossing the discus 170 feet. That toss is a new school record. Reis Thomas was 3rd in the discus with a lifetime best toss of 160'5". Pierce Thomas won the long jump leaping 22'5.75" and Marcos Barbosa and Tyray Lackey finished 2nd and 3rd in the high jump both clearing 6 feet. On the track, the Bulldogs had a ton of strong performances. The 4x800 meter relay led the night off with a first place finish in a time of 8:36.51.  Tyrone Griffin won both the 110 meter hurdles (15.47) and the 300 meter hurdles (41.24). Shai Sumpter-Bey was 2nd in both the 100 meter dash (11.20) and the 200 meter dash (23.03).  Gavin Waltz was 3rd in the 100 meter dash (11.36) and Pierce Thomas was 3rd in the 200 meter dash (23.04). The 4x100 meter relay team of Gavin Waltz, Pierce Thomas, Andrew Tetrick, and Shai Sumpter-Bey finished 2nd in the event running 43.49.Tyler Nolan won the 800 meter run (2:04) and Alex Freeman won the 3200 meter run (9:52.34). Trevor Nolan placed 3rd in the 3200 meter run with a huge PR of 10:04.01 and Trey Fisher was 2nd in the 400 meter dash (52.1). The team of Trey Fisher, Gavin Waltz, Marcos Barbosa, and Haiden Diemer-Mckinney capped the night off by winning the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 3:30.76. The Bulldogs are back on the track Tuesday evening when they travel to Plainfield to compete against Plainfield and Mooresville.
