Boys T&F Starts Strong at West Lafayette Indoor

The Bulldog boys track and field team traveled to Purdue University on Friday to compete in the West Lafayette Individuals track meet. The team had strong performances from a bunch of different athletes. Senior Tyrone Griffin was second in the 55 meter hurdles. His time of 7.84 broke the indoor school record in the event. Sophomore Marcos Barbosa finished second in the high jump clearing 6'6" for the first time in his life. Marcos also finished 4th in the 55 meter hurdles running 8.24. Senior Bryce Kirtz was one of five Bulldogs that made the finals in the 55 meter dash. Bryce won the 55 meter dash breaking the school indoor record with a time of 6.55. Senior Shai Sumpter-Bey was fourth in that event running 6.67. Shai also finished third in the 200 meter dash running 23.98. The three Bulldog vaulters all cleared 11'6". Senior Matt Albert was second in the event while junior DJ Terrell finished third. In the last event of the night, Senior Trey Fisher broke his own school indoor record in the 400 meter dash. Trey ran 53.94 to finish third in the event. The Bulldogs will travel to Bloomington Wednesday night to compete in the Bloomington North Invitational at Indiana University.
