Bulldog T&F Competes at State

The Bulldog track and field team traveled to Bloomington, Indiana on Saturday to compete in the IHSAA State Finals. The boys finished with six all-state athletes, five more than the previous year. The 4x100 meter relay team of Leigh Nutall, Jack Parker, Andrew Tetrick, and Shai Sumpter-Bey ran 42.28. Not only did their time smash the school record of 42.62, it placed them 7th overall in the competition. Bryce Kirtz was our lone all-state athlete in the open sprint events this year. Bryce finished 9th in the 400 with a time of 49.18. The boys had a strong showing in the Long Jump. Freshman Pierce Thomas leaped a season best 23-2.25. That jump placed him 3rd in the competition. Other notable performances came from Reis Thomas and Shai Sumpter-Bey. Reis threw the discus 158 feet and 4 inches. He finished 13th in the state with a mark that would have made him an all state discus thrower the year before. Shai ran a personal best 22.26 in the 200 meter dash which was good for 14th in the state. Leigh Nutall competed in the 110 meter hurdles running 14.98 and Freshman Marcos Barbosa competed in the high jump clearing 6-2. Congrats to the Bulldog boys track and field team on a tremendous season.
