Boys Track Places 3rd at Sectional

The Bulldog track and field team traveled to Plainfield Thursday evening to compete in the IHSAA Sectional meet. The boys finished 3rd as a team, scoring 124 points. In the field events, Pierce Thomas broke his own school record, jumping 23 feet and one half inch. Pierce finished second in the event. Leigh Nutall finished 5th in the long jump, leaping 20'7.5". Marcos Barbosa finished second in the high jump clearing a lifetime best 6'1". Reis Thomas finished 5th in the shot put with a new PR of 47'8". He also finished 5th in the discus with a toss of 150-10. Kyle Flandermeyer finished 5th in the pole vault clearing 11'6". On the track, the Bulldog 4x800 meter relay team of Alex Freeman, Tyler Nolan, Bryan Lomax, and Christian Hammerly finished 3rd running 8:14.56. Jack Parker was 3rd in the 100 meter dash with a big time PR of 11.06. Shai Sumpter-Bey was 4th in the 100 running 11.1. In the 110 meter hurdles, Leigh Nutall finished 3rd running 14.85 and Tyrone Griffin finished 5th running 15.02. Tyrone also finished 4th in the 300 meter hurdles running 41.26. The 4x100 meter relay team of Leigh Nutall, Jack Parker, Andrew Tetrick, and Shai Sumpter-Bey ran 42.74 which was a season best time and was good for 2nd. Bryce Kirtz won the 400 meter dash in a time of 48.84. Shai Sumpter-Bey was 2nd in the 200 running a PR of 22.33. Christian Hammerly was 5th in the 800 running 2:02.27 and Alex Freeman finished 3rd in the 1600 meter run with a new lifetime best of 4:35.95. In the final event of the night, the 4x400 meter relay team of Trey Fisher, Pierce Thomas, Marcos Barbosa, and Christian Hammerly finished 4th running 3:33.83. The Bulldogs will travel to LaFayette Jefferson next Thursday where they will compete in the IHSAA Regional Track Meet.
