Bulldogs Place 4th at HCC Meet

The Varsity Bulldog Track & Field team traveled to Fishers Thursday evening to compete in the HCC Conference Track Meet. The boys finished 4th, scoring 77 and a half points. In the field events, the Bulldogs were led by Pierce Thomas. Pierce placed second in the long jump leaping 22-2.5. Marcos Barbosa placed 4th in the High Jump clearing 5'10" and Tyray Lackey placed 7th clearing 5'8". Dane Middlebrook finished 8th in the shot put throwing 44'4". Reis Thomas placed 6th in the Discus throwing 143'9". Kyle Flandermeyer and Matthew Albert both cleared 11 feet which tied for 8th place. On the track, the Bulldogs had a strong showing in the hurdle events. Leigh Nutall was second in the 110 meter hurdles, running a new school record time of 14.77. Tyrone Griffin was 7th, running 15.57. In the 300 meter hurdles, Tyrone finished 4th running 41.11 and Leigh finished 6th running 41.9. In the sprint events, Shai Sumpter-Bey was 4th in the 100 meter dash running 11.01 & Jack Parker was 7th running 11.35. Shai also finished 4th in the 200 meter dash running 22.36. Bryce Kirtz was the sole Bulldog Conference Champion. Bryce won the 400 in a time of 48.77 seconds. That time is currently the second fastest time in the state in the event. Christian Hammerly ran 2:00.09 to place 7th in the 800 meter run and Alex Freeman ran 4:37.36 in the 1600 meter run to place 7th. Brownsburg's 4x100 meter relay team was third while their 4x800 meter relay team was 4th and their 4x400 meter relay team finished 5th. The Bulldogs will be back on the track a in six days when they travel to Plainfield to compete at the IHSAA Sectional Track Meet.
