Bulldogs Compete at T&F Sectional

The Bulldog Track team competed last night at Plainfield in the IHSAA Sectional Meet. The Bulldogs scored 95 points and placed 3rd. Devin Humes won the sectional in the discus, throwing 165-4. That is a 7 foot PR for Devin and 2 feet behind the school record in the discus. Reis Thomas took 4th in the same event, throwing 152-5. That was almost a 20 foot PR for Reis. In the Shot Put, Devin Humes took 4th, throwing 50-1.5. In the Long Jump, Leigh Nutall placed 4th jumping 20-11.5, a 7 inch PR for the junior. Corey Griffen was right behind Leigh finishing 5th and jumping 20-6.75. Richard Lang took 4th in the High Jump clearing 6 feet. Devin, Richard, and Leigh will all advance in the field events to the Regional Meet next week. Reis Thomas may get a call back for the Regional Meet as well.

 

On the Track, Bryce Kirtz was the Sectional Runner-Up in both the 100 (tied for 2nd) and the 200. Shai Sumpter-Bey was 4th in the 200. Both Bryce and Shai along with Jon Hammond, and Leigh Nutall finished second in the 4x100 meter relay as well. Their time in that event (42.90) ties the school record. In the 300 Meter Hurdles, Tyrone Griffin finished 4th running 43.04. In the 110 meter hurdles, Corey Griffen placed 2nd running a PR of 15.43. In the same race, Freshman Donovan Marcus broke the Freshman school record running 16.39. Corey Griffen, Bryce Kirtz, Shai Sumpter-Bey, Jon Hammond, Leigh Nutall, and Tyrone Griffin will all advance and compete next week in the running events. The Bulldogs will compete next Thursday at Lafayette Jefferson in the IHSAA Regional Track Meet.
