Boys & Girls Compete Against Avon

The boys track team took on the Avon Orioles last night. The Bulldogs fell short in the contest 80-52. In the field events, Corey Griffen and Leigh Nutall tied for first place. Both Corey and Leigh jumped 19'9". Devin Humes won the discus with a toss of 150'8". Devin was also second in the shot put throwing 49'5". Justin Garnett was second in the pole vault, vaulting 10'6". In the final field event of the night, Eli Johnson and Richard Lang tied for first place both clearing 5'10". On the track, Corey Griffen won the 110 meter hurdles running with a time of 15.7. Although not placing in that event, Freshman Donovan Marcus ran 16.6 which is less than 2 tenths of a second away from breaking the freshman school record in that event. Tyrone Griffin was second in the 300 meter hurdles running a time of 44.18. Bryce Kirtz won the 200 running a time of 22.6. Charles Voglewede and Stuart Goedde took 1st and 2nd in the 3200 meter run running 10:18 and 10:34. Another highlight of the meet was the 4x100 meter relay team. The team of Leigh Nutall, Jon Hammond, Shai Sumpter-Bey, and Bryce Kirtz ran 43.27 which is a season best. The Bulldogs will be back in action at home for senior night Thursday against Western Boone.

 

The girls track and field team lost a close dual with Avon Tuesday night 67-65. Despite the windy conditions there were several great performances for the night. In the field events, Gabby Bische jumped a personal best in the pole vault followed by Sylvia Lewis and Ali Ray. Kaya Hill and Mikayla Elkins took first and second in the long jump. Mackenzie Harless won the high jump with Skyy Smith in third place. In the running events, Brooke Dixon won the mile. Lauren Rinehart won the 800 followed by Brooke Dixon and Carly Altier. Emma Cougill ran a 20 second personal best time in the 3200 to take second followed by senior Grace Esterline in third place. The 4 x 800 relay of Carly Altier, Gabby Bische, Anna Boone, and Lauren Rinehart took first place and the 4 x 400 of Angie Neddeau, Brooke Dixon, Michaela Barrett, and Lauren Rinehart ran a season best time of 4:09 to defeat Avon. The team will host Western Boone Thursday night for Senior Night. Come out and support your track seniors starting at 5:00.
