10 Advance to Regionals

The boys track and field team competed in the Plainfield sectional Tuesday night. It was a great team effort as 10 events will advance to the Regional meet with a runner-up finish behind Avon. In the running events, Tyler Kirtz continued his winning streak in the 400 meters setting a new Sectional record of 49.06! In the 800 meters, Hari Sathyamurthy ran to a first place finish setting a new Sectional record of 1:54.81! In the 100 meters, Bryce Kirtz finished in fourth place beating the 1976 freshman record with a time of 11:45! The 4 x 400 relay of Hunter Johnson, Hari, Bryce and Tyler Kirtz also set a new sectional record and running the current top time in the state with their winning time of 3:19.90! Senior Shane Bonness had a great night with a fourth place finish and personal record time of 41.74. Senior Marcus Fierek is the runner-up in the 1600 with his time of 4:30. The 4 x 800 of Devon Boone, Levi Wilbur, Marcus Fierek, and Hari finished second to advance to the Regional meet. In the field events, Devin Humes scored some big points for the team taking first place in the shot put and placing 2nd in the discus with a new personal best throw of 155'10.5"! Freshman Reis Thomas again broke his freshman record in the discus placing 7th with his throw of 133'04"! Eli Johnson also had a big night as your sectional champ in the high jump with a jump of 6'5". Freshman Richard Lang jumped to a personal best and fourth place finish with a jump of 6'0". Isaiah Craddick finished fourth place in the long jump with a distance of 21'1.5" and will qualify for the Regional meet. The Bulldogs will compete in the Lafayette Jeff Regional meet next Thursday.
