IHSAA Releases 2019 Boys Tennis State Tournament Draw

The IHSAA released the draw for the 2019 IHSAA Boys Tennis State Tournament during the 53rd Annual IHSAA Boys Tennis State Tournament Pairings Show. 

Postseason play will kick off this Wednesday (October 2nd) at the respective host sites. Brownsburg is aligned in Sectional 1 hosted by Plainfield High School. 

Rounding out the sectional field are Avon, Danville, Mooresville and Plainfield. 

Dates and times of the matchups have yet to be released. 

The Draw

The Bulldogs were awarded a bye to the sectional semi-final where they will take on B&O Rotary Trail Bell Rival Avon. 

In Match 1 of the sectional, Mooresville will play Danville. The winner of that matchup will advance to play host Plainfield in Match 3. 

The winner of the Brownsburg-Avon match and the winner of Match 3 will play for the Sectional 1 championship. 

The Plainfield sectional team champion will compete in Regional 1 also hosted by Plainfield High School. The feeder sectionals are for Regional 1 are Plainfield, Park Tudor, Ben Davis and Lebanon.

History 

Brownsburg has won 18 team boys tennis sectional championships during the program's history. The Bulldogs last won a sectional championship during the 2013 season. 

Avon was crowned Sectional 1 champions last season. 

Last year in the postseason, current junior Petar Petrovic made his mark in the No. 1 singles spot for the Bulldogs. As a sophomore, Petrovic advanced to the Bedford North Lawrence Regional championship and will look to build on last year's postseason run as sectional play opens this week. 

Former Bulldogs Adam Prichard and Gunnar Reffeitt made school history during last year's state tournament. Representing the Bulldogs in the No. 1 Doubles spot, they were the first to ever compete at the IHSAA State finals.

The duo was crowned regional champions and fell in the IHSAA State Doubles Quarterfinals.
