Boys Swim/Dive Wins Sectional Title

On Saturday the Brownsburg Swimming and Diving team won their 6th Sectional title in a row.

 

The Bulldogs won 9 of 12 events and will be sending a host of swimmers to the state championship next week at IUPUI.

 

The Bulldogs scored 527 points besting runner-up Brebeuf's 263 points.

 

Junior swimmer Simon Koester got the team off with a personal best time and 3rd place finish in the 200 Free.  And then the Bulldogs really got rolling...

 

Freshman Jake Johnson won the 200 IM with sophomores Scott Hasselbrinck and Caleb Anderson finishing 2nd and 3rd right behind him for Bulldog sweep.

 

Sophomore Austin Kehr dominated the 50 Free and 100 Free earning state berths in both events.

 

The Bulldog divers will send all three divers, Camden Anderson, Kyle Gannon and champion Kale Davidson to the diving regional Tuesday night.

 

The team swept two more events on the day - Nate Schaekel won the 100 Fly followed by teammates Noah Berryman and Caleb Anderson.  In the 500 Free, Freshman Jake Johnson made his second state event as champion, followed by fellow freshman Caleb Peschke and junior Simon Koester.

 

Avarey Newman placed second in the 100 Back, .10 seconds behind first in an exciting race.

 

The final individual event was a 1-2 performance by Nate Schaekel and Noah Berryman again.

 

The 200 Free Relay of Austin Kehr, Jake Johnson, Caleb Peschke and Will Scott won their race and the 400 Free Relay of Austin Kehr, Jake Johnson, Caleb Peschke and Lee Grimes finished off the meet by winning the 400 Free Relay.

 

The team will be busy next Friday night at IUPUI as they try to score the first state points for Brownsburg since 2015.
