Eric Waggoner Wins Sectional Title In 100 Free and 200 Free

Senior Eric Waggoner will represent Brownsburg in state competition after winning two races on Saturday at the IHSAA Swimming & Diving Sectional. 

Waggoner broke the Brownsburg record in the 200 Freestyle with his winning time of 1:43.74, and also touched first in the 100 Freestyle. He also contributed to two runner-up relay finishes, teaming with fellow seniors Matt Phillips, Jared Sadtler and Jared Woodings for second place in the 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle Relays. 

Sadtler set a new Brownsburg record in the 100 Breaststroke (1:01.74) which was good for fifth place.  

Woodings finished fourth in the 200 I.M. and 100 Backstroke, and Phillips was 12th in the 50 and 100 Freestyle. 

Seniors Mike Fouch and Kyle Paquin also concluded outstanding careers on Saturday.  Fouch finished fourth in the 100 Butterfly and 11th in the 100 Backstroke, while Paquin finished ninth in the 100 Breaststroke. 

Juniors Brian Collins, Joel Paquin and Joe Perkins and sophomore Kasey Cross finished sixth in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Collins finished ninth in the 200 and 500 Freestyle, Paquin finished seventh in the 500 Freestyle and eighth in the 200 Freestyle and Perkins finished 12th in the 500 Freestyle.

The preliminary round of the IHSAA State Finals begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, February 25 at the IUPUI Natatorium. Finals begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 26.
