Boys Soccer Wins Sectional Championship

On Saturday, the boys' varsity soccer team faced Plainfield in the IHSAA Boys' 3A Sectional 9 championship game. The Bulldogs controlled the match early getting off plenty of opportunities, and a Max Harris shot deflected off a Plainfield defender to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 halftime lead. Despite trailing 18-1 in shots, the hosts came out with renewed vigor to open the second half and nearly equalized about midway through the second half. The Bulldogs kept firing away at the Plainfield goal, yet solid goalkeeper kept thwarting their chances. With under 3 minutes left, Noah Yohannes, who had been double and triple teamed all night, drew a foul in the penalty box and converted the kick to seal the 2-0 victory and the Sectional title for the 'Dogs. This was the first Sectional title Brownsburg has won since soccer expanded to 3 classes, and their 16th overall. The Bulldogs will travel to Carmel next Saturday to play Cathedral at noon in the opening round of Regionals.
