Bulldogs Take Down Undefeated Greyhounds
On Saturday the boys basketball team travelled to Carmel for a non-conference game with the Greyhounds. The weather left the gym a little empty but the fans who attended received a heck of a game from the undefeated Carmel team and the surging Bulldogs from Brownsburg. Carmel jumped out to an 18-11 first quarter lead and seemed to take control of the contest. Brownsburg battled back in the second quarter and held the host team to 6 points and trimmed the Greyhound lead to 4 at halftime. Brownsburg continued to cut into the lead starting the third quarter. Tying the game at 34 points, Brownsburg appeared to be taking control of the contest. Carmel finished with a flurry of 3 point shots to reclaim a 6 point advantage going into the fourth quarter. Behind the senior duo of Cameron Alford and Reis Thomas who scored 22 of the teams 32 second half points, Brownsburg made a fantastic push to finish the game. Trailing with minutes remaining the Bulldogs hit shots, made great defensive plays and with seconds remaining Alford stole a Carmel pass and scored with seconds left to secure a Brownsburg 52-50 victory over the undefeated Greyhounds. It was a complete team victory as every player made great contributions and contributed timely plays to push the team to the successful ending. The team had five different players contribute to nine 3 point field goals and the team held Carmel to single digit scoring in the 2ndand 4th quarters to make the evening a great team win.
