Boys Basketball Wins Back to Back County Titles

Saturday evening the boys' basketball team took on Avon in the championship game of the Hendricks county tournament.  Twenty Minutes after the Lady Bulldogs cut their nets down as the 2019 girls' champions the boys tipped off and played a tough first quarter leading by as much as five points.  A three pointer at the buzzer gave Avon a point advantage 14-13.  Avon stretched their lead to as much as eight points before Brownsburg turned up the defense and went on a run to take a 29-22 halftime advantage.  Malek Edmonds 13 of his 18 points in the first half.  The second half was very similar to the first as both teams put forth a championship effort to push their team to victory.  Brownsburg pushed their lead to 9 only to see Avon hit another three at the third quarter buzzer to cut the lead to 6 with 8 minutes to play.  The Bulldogs played a very solid final eight minutes to secure the championship 58-49.  Edmonds paced the Bulldogs along with Pierce Thomas with 18 points.  Cameron Alford chipped in 12 points, 5 assists, and 7 rebounds.  Pierce Thomas had 4 assists and 6 rebounds.  Jakobi McGowan had 4 assists and a big 3 with about 2 minutes left to push the lead back to 8.  Gunnar Reffeitt had six assists as the team had 21 assists against 11 turnovers.  The team also converted 13 of 17 free throws to secure the victory.  The win marks back to back county championships and four of the last six county titles for the Bulldog boys program.
