Orioles 4th Quarter Surge Provides Difference

The boys' basketball team battled tenaciously Friday night against Avon, but lost 65-50. 

The Dogs trailed 16-8 at the end of the first quarter, but fought back.  Darayl Jordan dunked from a Chase Dutra assist.  Mycah Whetstone nailed a three, and the Dogs scored nine more points from the foul line, while their defense held Avon to only nine points. 

The Dogs took the lead 40-39 in the third quarter behind Dutra's toughness as he scored nine of his ten points in that stanza. 

The Dogs couldn't hold on to the lead in the fourth as Avon converted on turnovers and the Dogs were forced to foul. 

Whetstone had a career high 22 points, Dutra had a career high of 10 points, Jaraan Lands grabbed a career high nine rebounds. 

The Dogs moved to 2-5 on the year.
