Bio

A man with a proven record of championship success, head coach John Hart has taken Brownsburg football to the top of the state's high school football landscape in his tenure.

Most recently he guided the program to its first IHSAA Sectional championship since 2009 during a strong 2022 campaign for Brownsburg. The Bulldogs rolled to their 2022 IHSAA Sectional title, outscoring opponents 68-7 in Sectional play. The run included a 31-7 home win over Carmel, which avenged a loss to the Greyhounds in the 2021 IHSAA Sectional championship game at C.F. Roark Stadium.

Hart has amassed a 50-15 record in six seasons with the program including three Hoosier Crossroads Conference championships in his first three seasons. Behind IndyStar Indiana Mr. Football selection Hunter Johnson, the Bulldogs doubled their win total in 2016, Hart's first season at Brownsburg. The Bulldogs went from 4-6 in 2015 prior to his hiring, to 8-2 during a 2016 Hoosier Crossroads Conference championship season. The following campaign was another 8-win, Hoosier Conference championship campaign for the Bulldogs under Hart.

The 2018 Bulldogs posted an historic campaign by going undefeated in the reglar season and winning the Hoosier Crossroads Conference championship. Brownsburg climbed as high as No.2 in the Associated Press Indiana High School football poll that year.

Hart's 37-year career-record is 307-94 and has spanned four different decades. He has led programs to a pair of IHSAA State championships and a total of 14 conference championships at six different schools.

He began his career in his home state of Illinois with stops at Albion and Mt. Carmel. The Golden Aces won more than 100 games to go with four North Egypt Conference championships in Hart's 11 years at Mt. Carmel. He moved to the state of Indiana in 2001 and led Evansville Reitz to three SIAC championships, five IHSAA Sectional championships, two IHSAA Regional championships and an undefeated 2007 IHSAA Class 4A State championship. In 2000, Hart guided Reitz QB Paul McIntosh to Gatorade Player of the Year and IndyStar Indiana Mr Football selections.

In 2008, Hart was hired as the head coach at Warren Central high school. He guided the Warriors to two MIC championships and the 2009 IHSAA State championship before moving back to the state of Illinois. Hart took over as the head coach of Huntley High School and qualified for three IHSA State playoffs. The Red Raiders went undefeated in the 2015 regular season, winning the Fox Volley Conference championship for the first time.

He was honored by the Illinois High School Football Football Coaches Association in 2021 as Hart was inducted into the IHSFCA Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Reitz Football Hall of Fame after his induction in 2020.

Hart and his wife, Janet, have four children and numerous grandchildren. His sons Nick and Derek are head football coaches at Gibson Southern and Kankakee (Illinois). His daughters Brittany, head girls basketball coach at Princeton, and Kristen, head volleyball coach at Owen Valley, are also coaches.
