Bulldogs Kick Off Season with Win at Bloomington S.

Your 2018 varsity football Bulldogs got the season started off right with a dominating win Friday night against the Panthers of Bloomington South by a score of 44-13!

The game began in a torrential rain, but that did not slow down the offense as they ran out to 27 first half points.  Sophomore quarterback Ben Easters was very impressive in his debut for the Dogs, throwing for 276 passing yards and 4 TDs!  Senior Bryce Kirtz had his normal fantastic play with 4 total touchdowns, including a 58 yard scamper where he was untouched due to great blocking by the rest of the offense.  Senior Reis Thomas also had a touchdown reception, while sophomore Brandon Burks had an electrifying 80 yard TD run!  Junior kicker Clay Chase added a field goal to round out the scoring for the Dogs.

The defense arrived in a bad mood and was totally dominant all night, allowing a paltry 222 total yards.  Senior linebacker Jacob Birkofer was dominant, tipping multiple passes and helping set up an interception by junior Jakobi McGowanLawson Aiken, Isaiah Higgins, Cade Shupperd, and Dorian Keys also led the Dogs dominating performance.

Please get out to Roark Stadium Friday for Red Out For Riley, as the Dogs take on a new opponent this year in Cathedral.  This will be a terrific game against a great opponent, and the Dogs hope to see you there!
