The Bulldogs got off to a hot start this past weekend but a few untimely errors unraveled their attempt at collecting a county championship.  In game 1 on Friday night, the Bulldogs faced off against Cascade.  After sophomore Jordan Jones exited the game after the first inning due to some soreness in his arm, senior Jaret Starnes continued with a 5 inning gem allowing only 1 earned run to the Cascade Cadets.  The Bulldogs took care of the Cadets 11-1 in six innings and were led Cameron Martin, Logan Kabrich, Tyler Bireley and Jake Smith at the plate, all having multiple hits and driving in runs.  Game 2 saw the Bulldogs face off against conference rival Avon. The game was a scoreless pitching duel through the 3 innings with the Bulldogs threatening in every inning off the Avon ace but unable to find a run until the 4th.  The Bulldogs tacked on 3 more in the bottom of the 5th to bring it to 4-0.  Unfortunately, two costly errors in the 6th and 7th allowed the Orioles to rally and bring in 6 runs to take the lead.  In the bottom of the 7th, the Bulldogs threatened again, scoring one, but stranding the final 2 runners to end the game.  In the loss, Kabrich threw a great game on the mound and gave the Dogs the opportunity to win.  At the plate, Charlie Brewer and Greg Hughes both went 2-2 and Tyler Bireley went 2-4.  In the 3rd place game, the Bulldogs capped the day off with a 10-6 win over Tri-West.  The Bulldogs jumped ahead 4-0 in the first and never looked back.  Tyler Bireley collected his first win of the season and offensively the Bulldogs had big games again from Bireley and Kabrich.
